Reverse Circulation

(RC) Drilling

Stratacore Drilling offers Reverse Circulation (RC) capabilities through its specialist multi-purpose, low impact rigs. We commonly offer this service as a pathway to extended Diamond core drilling programs.

Stratacore Drilling drove safety innovation by having the ability to offer ‘hands off steel’ rod loading systems on their rigs, making Startacore the mining and mineral explorer’s preferred drilling contract provider on the east coast.

RC provides a fast accurate sample recovery, by using an inner tube located within a drill rod. High pressure compressed air is forced down the annulus between the rod and inner tube, which is then passed through an air driven pneumatic hammer at the end of the drill string. Forcing a drill bit located at the bottom of the hammer, to fire against the strata multiple times a second.

In turn, this creates chip samples that are recovered due to a vacuum effect at the bit face, forcing the sample up the inner tube back to the surface. The returned samples are then collected at the surface in a cyclone. The sample is collected in meter increments and split by either a rifle or cone style splitter, depending on the clients’ requirements.

Diamond core drilling creates a core sample, providing a true presentation of the respective geological conditions and materials located underground. Diamond drilling is the most informative, accurate and effective drilling method used in the resource and mining sector. Diamond coring can target and intersect key ore bodies and geological structures, providing geologists accurate structural and mineralogical content that can be assayed; a true representation of the ground.

Startacore delivers fully oriented core samples from B&Q through to 8C sizing. We use advanced gyro down-hole tooling to minimise hole deviation and providing 100% accurate sample recovery and relevant data.

Stratacore Drilling offer state of the art sonic drilling applications for both the geotechnical and mining sectors. Our sonic rigs offer cutting edge technology that is designed to exceed industry safety standards whilst increasing productivity and decreasing local environmental impact.

Sonic drilling uses high frequency resonant technology. Eccentrics within the drill head generate resonant energy up to the frequency of 150 Hz, which is transferred down the drill string to the bit face. Making it possible to cut through the hardest materials often found in stockpiles and landfill sites.
